Upgraded Oil Pump
What does an upgraded oil pump mean?
It can mean several things, but the two most common are:
1. It flows / pumps more oil.
2. It is structurally reinforced compared to OEM.
Do I have to have a reinforced oil pump?
If your OEM oil pump has problems, there is often a reinforced version. Then it is recommended to change to this to avoid issues that the original oil pump causes.
Do I need an oil pump with more flow?
No, only if you have made changes that require more flow or want to achieve a different result by switching to a high-flow oil pump. One reason to upgrade to a high-flow oil pump may be with larger bearing clearances, which means lower oil pressure.
Does the oil pump need to be replaced if my oil cooler has broken?
If your oil cooler has broken, you must replace it or at least check it carefully! If not, the risk of engine failure is immense.
I have a new oil pump but low oil pressure.
It can be due to many different things, but problems directly connected to the oil pump are the connection between the pump and the engine. If this leaks, similar problems arise.
