AN Hardline & fittings

Are the aluminum tubes the same size as the AN hose?
Pipe and hose are called the same, but the sizes differ. The AN measurement is an outer measurement, and the tubes are thicker than the hose; therefore, the inner diameter is smaller. Hence, you often have to use larger pipes than hoses.

When should pipes be used instead of hose?
Hose or piping is entirely a matter of taste

What are the advantages of an aluminum pipe instead of a hose?
A significant advantage is that aluminum pipes conduct heat well and help to cool fuel, oil, and the media used in the tube. It works like a big cooler. As a reference, 4 meters of aluminum pipes in a system corresponds to 10 40cm pipe coolers or four 1-meter pipe coolers.

What are the disadvantages of an aluminum pipe instead of a hose?
The aluminum pipe takes longer to install than a hose. There will also be more joints in the system as hoses must be used between the engine and body and in the places where it moves, as aluminum pipes are not flexible like a hose.

Can a hose and hose clamp be used directly on the aluminum pipe?
Using a hose with a clamp on the tube is not recommended as it has no barbs, so the risk of breaking apart is high.

Can the pipes be bent easily?
Yes, the pipes are easily bent and are standard inch size, which allows you to use most pipe bending tools.

Do shear ring couplings work with steel pipes?
Do not use cutting ring couplings with steel pipes, as steel pipes are too hard for the cutting ring to prune correctly.
